Anthropic is preparing to extend access to its Claude Mythos Preview model to UK financial institutions as early as next week, marking the first expansion of its controversial cybersecurity initiative beyond the United States. Pip White, the company's head for the UK, Ireland, and northern Europe, confirmed the timeline in an interview on Bloomberg Television on Tuesday, saying the rollout was “in the very near term, in the next week.”

The announcement comes as the Bank of England gears up to brief the country's largest banks, insurers, and exchanges on the cybersecurity risks posed by the model. The dual track, commercial access opening while regulatory briefings are still ongoing, mirrors the pattern established in the United States, where JPMorgan Chase and other systemically important institutions began testing Mythos under Anthropic's controlled Project Glasswing initiative even as the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve were issuing their own risk assessments.

White's confirmation makes the UK the first market outside the US to receive Mythos Preview access. Anthropic has framed the UK rollout as a defensive deployment, giving financial institutions the ability to use the model's exploit-discovery capabilities against their own infrastructure before hostile actors can reverse-engineer similar techniques. The Bank of England's parallel briefing schedule suggests coordinated preparation between Anthropic and UK financial supervisors, though neither party has confirmed a formal agreement.

The ECB launched its own systemic risk inquiry into Mythos this week, questioning Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, and Santander on their preparedness.
