A Red Bull Showrun is a Formula 1 demonstration event where Red Bull Racing takes one of its show cars to a city street circuit and runs it at speed for a live audience. The car is typically a previous-generation F1 chassis fitted with a Cosworth V8 engine, producing over 750 horsepower. The runs include straight-line speed demonstrations, controlled slides, and donuts, all designed to give spectators the visceral experience of an F1 car at close range.

Red Bull has run Showruns in cities worldwide, including New York, Tokyo, Cape Town, and Beirut. The events are free to attend and function as massive brand activations that bring motorsport to cities that do not host Grand Prix races.

The San Francisco Showrun on February 21, 2026 marked one of the first major Red Bull events of the year in the United States. San Francisco's hilly streets and waterfront provide a dramatic backdrop for the demo runs. Red Bull closed a section of city streets near the Embarcadero for the event, with barriers and grandstands set up for spectators.

In addition to the car runs, the event featured a full fan zone with Red Bull Racing merchandise, simulators, driver appearances, and a DJ stage. The event drew an estimated 15,000-20,000 spectators, making it one of the largest single-day Red Bull events on the U.S. West Coast.

San Francisco has never hosted a Formula 1 Grand Prix, and there are no current plans to add one. The Showrun format fills that gap: it brings the sound, speed, and spectacle of F1 to a city that would otherwise only experience it through television. For Red Bull, the marketing calculus is straightforward. The Showrun generates massive local press coverage, tens of millions of social media impressions, and direct engagement with a tech-heavy Bay Area audience that skews toward the Red Bull demographic.
