Rainbow Six Siege Operation Silent Hunt | Solid Snake, 1v1 Arcade, and the End of Dual Front

Y11S1 is the biggest season shakeup Siege has had in years, headlined by a Metal Gear crossover and a clear pivot in competitive direction

March 31, 2026📖 3 min read

Ubisoft has launched Operation Silent Hunt, Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 1, and it is not a quiet patch cycle. The headline addition is Solid Snake as a fully playable attacker, arriving with a suppressed TACIT .45 sidearm and the Soliton Radar Mk. III, a reconnaissance gadget that scans nearby defender positions through walls. Snake also introduces OSP (on-site procurement) training, a gadget-scavenging mechanic that lets attackers pick up defender utility mid-round.

Three Modernized Maps and a New Competitive Mode

Coastline, Villa, and Oregon have all received modernization passes, updating sightlines, room layouts, and destructible surfaces to better match the current meta. Alongside the map updates, Ubisoft has added a public 1v1 Arcade playlist, giving players a structured solo dueling format outside of ranked and casual queues. The ranked map rotation has also been adjusted for Y11S1.

Anti-Toxicity Overhaul and Moderation Tools

Silent Hunt rolls out a major anti-toxicity pass with 16 new report categories, stronger text-chat moderation filters, and improved replay tools including a reworked HUD and free-cam mode for reviewing matches. Ubisoft says these changes are part of a broader effort to reduce friction in ranked play and make reporting more granular and actionable.

Dual Front Is on Its Way Out

The most significant structural change is the beginning of Dual Front's removal. Ubisoft has confirmed the mode will be fully retired at the start of Y11S2, with its underlying technology being folded back into core Siege. The studio says each season going forward will target a specific meta archetype. Y11S1 focuses on entry-fragging and roaming roles, with balance tuning designed to reward aggressive attacker play and mobile defender setups.

Community Response

Early community reception has been broadly positive. The 1v1 Arcade mode, modernized maps, and Solid Snake's reconnaissance kit have drawn the most praise, with players calling Silent Hunt the most "content-dense" season in recent memory. The main pushback on Reddit centers on Ubisoft's increasingly aggressive meta-targeting approach, with some players arguing that constant balance shifts can feel punishing for anyone not tracking patch notes closely.
