Psyonix has launched Rocket League Season 22 with update v2.66, and the patch is wider than a typical season rollover. Alongside the expected new Rocket Pass and seasonal challenges, v2.66 introduces a system-level change to how events work, a redesigned in-game News Panel, ranked modifications, and the largest batch of training and HUD improvements the game has seen in a single update.
Concurrent Limited Time Events
The headline structural change is that multiple Limited Time Events can now run at the same time. Previously, events were sequential, meaning players had to wait for one to end before the next could begin. Season 22 removes that restriction, allowing Psyonix to layer event rewards, challenges, and themed playlists on top of each other. The update also introduces "Built Different" challenges alongside the standard Season 22 challenge track, plus a free login incentive for returning players.
Ranked and Tournament Changes
Ranked play receives modifications to matchmaking and reward distribution, though Psyonix has not disclosed the full details of the MMR tuning. Tournament enhancements are also included, along with updates to the RLCS shop and ranked reward tiers for Season 22.
Training and Visibility Upgrades
The quality-of-life additions are the real story of this patch. Custom training is now less clunky, with several workflow improvements that reduce the friction of setting up and repeating drills. The HUD additions include a flip-reset indicator, visual boost-pad recharge feedback, and returning player-count visibility, all features the community has requested for years. Expanded preset slots allow players to save more car configurations without overwriting existing setups.
Redesigned News Panel and Settings
The in-game News Panel has been completely redesigned to surface event schedules, patch notes, and item shop rotations more clearly. Psyonix has also added stronger control over marketing and personalization settings, giving players more granular options for what notifications and promotions they see in-client.
Community Reception
The creator and community response has been broadly enthusiastic. The flip-reset indicator, boost-pad recharge visual, and expanded presets are being called out as the kinds of practical, long-overdue changes that improve the experience for both casual and competitive players. The concurrent LTE system is generating optimism about event pacing, though some players are waiting to see how it plays out before calling it a net positive.
